Booking Notes:

30% deposit (non-refundable) to secure booking
Balance of payment due 8 weeks before the start of the holiday. A £250 security deposit is required, payable
with final balance and fully refundable within two weeks of departure less any significant breakages/damage or
cleaning costs.

Payment can be made via bank transfer (internet banking) or cheque. Enquiries and subsequent bookings received via the Simply Owners website, qualify for payment protection, subject to their terms and conditions.

Cancellation Refunds:
Up to 8 weeks – no cancellation charge.
4-8 weeks – 50% of rate refunded.
2-4 weeks – 25% of rate refunded.
Less than 2 weeks – no refund.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept pets.

If you decide to book, we will ask for your home address so that we can e mail an addressed booking form to you for you for completion.

We will also forward details/options for the deposit payment. Once the deposit payment has been received, we will e mail confirmation of your booking, together with details of the final balance and security deposit which is due for payment 8 weeks prior to your holiday. On receipt of the final balance, we will e mail a final confirmation, together with contact details for Louise, (looks after the chalet for us and lives in the village – English but speaks fluent French), directions, local shopping information etc.

Our Location

Situated in the PACA region (Provence, Alpes, Cote d'azur) you have a choice of travel options. If you want to fly and drive, Lyon or Grenoble airports are the nearest. We favour Lyon as there are more flights and choice of car hire companies. From Lyon (St Expury) it really is a very easy drive to Lus la Croix Haute and will take under 2 hours. We drive most of the time as the dog comes with us. The route from Calais to Lus is also very easy, with motorways all the way except for the last 40 minutes as you climb into the southern alpes. We allow 8.5 - 9.0 hours including breaks.

Cracking chalet in a great location. Well equipped and very comfortable. Nice and clean with everything we needed to make the stay pleasurable. No snow at Jarjaratte, but good skiing on Super Devoluy which was less than an hours drive away with some breathtaking scenery. The chalet was always nice to come back to, especially with the fire and the logs which are provided. Some lovely walks around, and a wonderful restaurant in the village where we went twice because it was so good and Marie looked after both of our familes so well. Many thanks to Duncan and Sarah and Louise for making our stay so enjoyable...we have already booked again for next year!

We have just returned from a wonderful family holiday in the chalet. The area surrounding Lus la Croix Haute is truly breathtaking. The chalet itself has everything you need for a relaxing holiday and was very clean when we arrived. The beds are very comfortable and though on several days the temperature reached 30 degrees we were never too hot in the evenings as the chalet (as long as the shutter are shut in the day when we were out) keeps nice and cool, though fans are available if needed. We especially enjoyed walking up to Les Pervanches restaurant in the evening and sampling local produce cooked to perfection, and with a four course meal for 18 euros we could not have asked for more. We visited Gap and Die and especially loved the lake at Veynes and the natural plunge pool just a ten minute walk away. There is more than enough to keep you occupied in the area but if you are just feeling lazy then the chalet has 2 acres of grounds, a table tennis table and sunbeds. The chalet was everything we were hoping for and Duncan could not have been more helpful, always replying to queries however trivial within just a few hours in many cases. We will certainly be recommending the chalet to family and friends.

We had a wonderful weeks stay here at the end of June. The weather was fantastic. The house has everything you need and more. Very spacious inside and lots of outdoor space too for relaxing, playing games or enjoying a BBQ. The kitchen is fully equipped. The location gave us easy access to local attractions as well other attractions a short drive away such as Grenoble which has a lake you can swim in. Remuzat, a great place to watch vultures from the top of the mountain, which you can drive most of the way up if you don’t fancy the walk. Visited The Citadel in Sisteron, lovely panoramic views from the top, the town is lovely too. From the house it’s a short walk into the village where there’s a local supermarket to buy your essentials. A butchers we used most days that also sells bread, cakes and wine. There are also some nice restaurants if you’re looking to dine out. Didn’t use the nearby outdoor swimming pool but it looked very inviting. Also nearby is a plunge pool which we visited a few times, once after climbing one of the mountains opposite. Very cold but great to dip your feet in after a long hike. If you like walking, nature, exploring or simply just relaxing then this is the place to stay. Booking was made very easy. The owners provided lots of info on the local area and places to see and things to do. We will definitely be booking again. Highly Recommend!

We've just had the most amazing time here. The house is splendid and fully lives up to the description, roomy and well laid out with just about everything you could need for a comfortable stay. Very relaxing and a real home-from-home when you add in the freesat capability for the TV and broadband that satisfied our teenager. Our boys also loved the table tennis table in the basement and the garden plenty big enough to play frisbee in. We found that the nearby river was a great source of fun, with lovely plunge pools that you can almost swim in, and plenty of places to sunbathe. Further up the valley, our youngest loved the high-ropes course at Accrobuech. We also had a couple of day trips out to the lakes at la Germanette. The spectacular mountain road to Die is worth the drive as is the walk to the suspension footbridge at Mayres-Savel. Our hidden gem of the holiday (not to be found online) was the pottery of Michel Cohen, about halfway between Aspremont and Serres. Only a small roadside sign to point the way off the main road, but a treasure trove of wood-fired pottery from a friendly and English speaking artisan. The owners are very helpful and responded quickly to our questions when we were booking, making the whole process very easy. There's no question that we will book again if we return to this area.

We only used the car for a supermarket shop and to swim in the lake at Veynes. (Don't miss the inflatable aqua obstacle course at Veynes - children and adults. A very comfortable, clean and well equipped chalet located in a picturesque setting. The description of the property given on both the Holiday France Direct site and that of the owner is accurate and honest. We travelled between the summer and winter seasons therefore some of the restaurants in the village were only open on odd occasions, no problems, the chalet has a very well equipped kitchen enabling us to practice our French Cuisine from the produce purchased in the local market. The village is quite isolated so be prepared to travel a bit if supermarket shopping is your thing. The booking process was easy and the owner Duncan responded very quickly and provided extensive details of the property and things to do in the local area. I particularly enjoyed mountain biking near the property. A local bike shop was able to complete running repairs on a buckled wheel, some of the terrain is quite rough but easier tracks and quite roads are available. We will go back to the area and would have no hesitation in recommending this property to family and friends.
